Boundary.
Well, boundary is a perfect word for Independence Day. As independence and INDEPENDENCE are both about setting and enforcing a boundary. Drawing a line in the sand and saying 'across this point you may not come, and I will not go....without permission.' Our home is a boundary, and we give others permission to enter all the time be it physically entering, or via mail, phone calls or video chat. That feels completely different than someone mailing you something that is offensive.
Today, we celebrate the Early Colonists drawing that line in the sand and saying NO, we will not continue to tolerate this treatment anymore. Take a moment to think about your personal boundaries, how do they feel, what's working or not working. We always have permission to adjust our boundaries so that they are healthy and expansive.
Today's collage is my visual representation of where we are as a country. Our foundation is multi-layered, and sometimes the boundaries set by our Founding Fathers feels more restrictive than expansive. But only sometimes! Happy Birthday, America.
