Week 7 Theme Magical

MAGICAL

Its week 7, are you surprised that I consider yarn magical?  I love the "hollywood" version of magical too.  Charmed witches, superheroes, Harry Potter?  Yes, please.  But on a day to day level I love exploring how fiber and herbs properties change based on what you do to them.  Magical, ya'll!!!

I really love the bag of yarn and the text "press your luck".  But i couldn't make them work.
No worries, they won't spoil.  Trust that they will make an appearance somewhere.

In the final collage, there are pictures layered over and under other elements.  See the light blue square of knitting on the left side?  Notice how it is under the pink yarn but on top of the gray yarn.  The herbs/seeds/flowers at the top of the collage were cut off on the original image.  Its ok to still use images that are cut off in the original!!  Just look for a way to make that cut off edge look intentional.  In this instance I put it at the top and right hand edge of the page.  Some other ideas to make a cut off image work is to layer another image on top of the cut off edge, layer text along the cut off edge, or in my instance place the cut off edge on the edge of your page.

Some other magic that is making this collage visually look cohesive is the use of similar colors.  They don't need to be exact just similar.  For instance, the yellow ball of yarn at the bottom, was cut out from  a different image  and placed next to the gray ball of yarn specifically to pull the yellow from the top of the collage into the bottom of the collage. The image of herbs in the top right corner has blue. The light blue square of knitted yarn on the left and the medium dark blue  yarn on the bottom right edge all help to pull the varied colors together.

See?  Yarn is magical is so many ways!!  I can't wait to hear and see how magic shows up in the everyday in your life.  Let's collage together!  #52collages2021
